Description

Compact Bioprocessing, Built to Grow With You

An Entry-Level Bioreactor Without the Entry-Level Compromises

The Bionet F0-baby is a benchtop fermenter and bioreactor for microbial and cell culture work. It gives R&D labs, teaching facilities and early-stage process development teams a capable, easy-to-run system at a fraction of the size and cost of larger platforms. Choose autoclavable glass vessels for multi-use work or a single-use vessel for disposable workflows, making the F0-baby suitable for biopharma, food, agricultural and cosmetics applications.

Key Benefits

Small footprint: A compact, ergonomic design that fits into space-constrained labs and is straightforward to operate and maintain.

Strong value: Professional-grade control hardware and software at an entry-level price point.

Easy to use: Intuitive software and simple routine maintenance, so new users are productive quickly.

Expand as you need: A modular Plug&Play design lets you add sensors, pumps and modules later, rather than buying separate specialised equipment up front.

Product Features

Rosita control software
Full SCADA functionality for process control, live visualisation and data logging, with recipe management, user profiles and remote access.

Interchangeable borosilicate vessels
Vessels are available in a range of working volumes and geometries for microbial and cell culture. Vessel supports and agitator motors are shared, so swapping between vessels is simple. Up to three F0-baby units can be run from a single PC, allowing recipe sharing and side-by-side comparison of online data.

Functional lid design
Plenty of ports for probes, additions, harvesting and sampling, with a layout designed for easy handling and cleaning.

Top-driven agitation
Overhead agitation gives more freedom in impeller selection and is easy to service.

Flexible pump configuration
Supplied with three fixed-speed peristaltic pumps, with the option to add up to four variable-speed pumps for fed-batch, continuous and other advanced feeding strategies.

Temperature control
Controls between 10 °C and 55 °C using a heating blanket and cooling finger, suitable for most cell types.

Ready for future upgrades
Spare signal channels and pre-wired connectors allow additional instruments, actuators and Bionet bSmart modules to be added in a Plug&Play fashion.

Available Configurations

Microbial Stirred Bioreactor 1 – 5 L. Suits a wide range of microorganisms across pharmaceutical, industrial, food and agricultural applications, with dedicated vessel geometry and accessories for different strains and processes.
Cell Culture Stirred Bioreactor 2 – 5 L. Configured for mammalian cell lines such as CHO and HEK293, with options including microspargers and pitched-blade or marine impellers to improve mass transfer while protecting shear-sensitive cells.
Single-Use Bioreactor 2 L. Performance comparable to a glass vessel with the convenience of a disposable system.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm on a tight budget and don't know what functionality I'll need later. Is the F0-baby a good fit?
Yes. You can start with a core configuration and add modules, probes and pumps as your requirements grow, simply by connecting them to the existing control unit.

My culture isn't homogeneous, so optical density isn't reliable for tracking biomass. What are my options?
Off-gas analysis (for example with the bBreath module) lets you monitor respiration parameters such as CER, OUR and RQ. These give a sensitive picture of metabolic activity that can guide feeding strategies, and can be combined with optical density data for better accuracy.
